Quote:
Saint Kateri Tekakwitha (pronounced [ˈɡaderi deɡaˈɡwita] in Mohawk), given the name Tekakwitha, baptized as Catherine[3][4] and informally known as Lily of the Mohawks (1656 – April 17, 1680), is a Roman Catholic saint who was an Algonquin–Mohawk laywoman. Born in the Mohawk village of Ossernenon, on the south side of the Mohawk River, she contracted smallpox in an epidemic; her family died and her face was scarred. She converted to Roman Catholicism at age nineteen, when she was renamed Kateri, baptized in honor of Saint Catherine of Siena. Refusing to marry, she left her village and moved for the remaining 5 years of her life to the Jesuit mission village of Kahnawake, south of Montreal in New France, now Canada.

Tekakwitha took a devout vow of perpetual virginity. Upon her death at the age of 24, minutes later witnesses said her scars vanished and her face appeared radiant and beautiful. Known for her virtue of chastity and mortification of the flesh, as well as being shunned by her tribe for her religious conversion to Catholicism, she is the fourth Native American to be venerated in the Roman Catholic Church and the first to be canonized.[5]

Under the pontificate of Pope John Paul II, she was beatified in 1980 and canonized by Pope Benedict XVI at Saint Peter's Basilica on 21 October 2012.[6][7] Various miracles and supernatural events are attributed to her intercession

Saw some previews for this original EWTN movie earlier this fall; this movie was produced by the same Director who made two history series on EWTN about the French Jesuit missionaries and Saint Junípero Serra.

I watched it when it aired this past Wednesday. One of the better productions from EWTN I thought. Fr. Mitch Pacwa had the director as a guest on EWTN Live before the film aired also so look for that to get more insight into how the film was made.

EWTN website only has an informational blurb about the movie at their website.

The Kateri movie is on EWTN TV tomorrow night.

If you don't have Cable, it looks like it is possible to watch the film over the internet using EWTN's livestream at ewtn.com, though I do not know for certain because sometimes EWTN typically does not livestream the movies they show on their network.

But I don't see the "No Streaming" notice they typically have on their movie schedule for this particular production.

Thanks for reminding this movie is on! I thought I had missed it

Generally every Saturday night is EWTN cinema. they show great movies about saints.

good quality, true to what is known of them. Recently they aired newer version of Padre Pio

and it was excellent.

Saturdays 8pm EST, or for those in the west its 5pm PST. Where I be every Saturday at

that time

Learn about St. Kateri Tekakwitha, the first Native American woman to be recognized as a saint and her incredible story. Listen to testimonies of those who have been touched by her—including the young boy miraculously cured that led to her canonization.
