Re: Your Hour-by-Hour Guide to Following Obsessively on Election Day
We already know how this one ends. They checked the box for black last
time. Trump will have the lead until the end, CNN will brag about how
the election is within a few hundred votes, implying that your vote
actually matters, the media outlets will string it out a long time for
effect, then Hillary will prevail. A victory is not good enough. There
needs to be an emotional curb stomp at the end for being so dumb. Check
the box for female. They probably already know a Hispanic will win the
next election. It will take a few elections before another white male
wins, but he'll need to be gay or Jewish. Be a good minion and check the
box.

Not a bad system.

The more checks, balances and people involved through the process,

still of concern, should be more value placed on accuracy and ensuring
the integrity of it for the people), it's good you still have a paper

Not all the States are like that though are they?

In case anyone wants a little bit different Election experience, the
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) News is livestreaming their
coverage of the U.S. Election (they're extremely Liberal and want the
Democrats to win but their coverage I think is excellent and not so
party partisan as the U.S. Election coverage).

And now for something really different.
I used to live in Illinois where dead people frequently vote. Now I live
in Indiana where I voted for a dead person today. One of our county
commissioners died recently, but is currently running third in an
election where the top three candidates win seats. Under our law if the
dead person wins, his party caucus gets to pick his replacement.

For some people (I would guess a minority) they may be there for the
right reasons, the reasons you mention, but one can't deny the political
ploy of it.
I also find it a bit ironic for Clinton supporters, considering Clinton
is for abortion, which not only kills many women every year, but also
allows for selective abortion, which kills women because they are women.
They do the same with IVF and choosing genders which Clinton also
supports (They won't say it out loud, and they will pretend to have laws
against gender selection, which are not enforced and are really
unenforceable with their abortion policies and IVF).
I hope this has helped

Obama has not been a good president.

Because the popular vote would give you what you wanted? Gore would have been present, not Bush.
What are you suggesting as the alternative?

Sorry, I am tired of people ignoring this statistic. You may not like
it, but it is based on the same numbers used under the Bush years. And
if you look at the range used, it is ridiculous. How many 16-17 year
olds work full time? How many 65-70 year olds are in the work force(and
should they?).
Guess what. Baby Boomers are leaving the work force. Rather than hire
Americans, big corporations would rather off-shore. Why pay Americans
reasonable salaries when you can pay less elsewhere (of course you get
what you pay for). And they get tax credits/breaks for this.

Re: Your Hour-by-Hour Guide to Following Obsessively on Election Day
I was going to write in the candidates for the Solidarity Party, but New
Mexico statues were apparently drafted by Benito Mussolini and I'm not
allowed to do this. I left the presidential ballot blank (I'm in a blue
state either way) and voted Republicans for state elections.
If I was in a battleground state I would have voted Trump. It looks like
he will be the next president, which is the better of two undesirables.
May God bless him and grant him wisdom & charity in his office.

I hope you're right about Trump, but remember Hillary could steal
the swing states still and has the automatic West Coast landslide in the
end.

Win or lose for Trump, this election is clearly not going to be the
blowout that many in the media on the left were reporting. A lot of
people expected the race to be over by now.

I don't think we could write it in in my state of Arizona either. Is it American Solidarity party
led by a Catholic or am I confusing it with another party?

Re: Your Hour-by-Hour Guide to Following Obsessively on Election Day
According to the version of the Internet I'm looking at, Trump still
leads in Wisconsin, Virginia, New Hampshire, and Michigan, and Ohio
looks to actually be pretty safe right now.
The strategy was to swallow up a few of those Rust Belt states that have
been gradually turning redder in recent years and it looks like it
succeeded. The blue West Coast won't mathematically topple that if Trump
wins enough of them.
People talk a lot about the growing minorities and their tendency to
vote blue, but they ignore that the Great Lakes region has lost its
place as a Democrat stronghold in the past decade, and Great Lakes
demographics have higher turnouts.

The Solidarity Party is a fiscal centrist / socially conservative
party. The president & vice presidential nominees are both Catholics
with large families.

People familiar with Trump could not vote for him.
If NY, his state, born and raised, doesn't go for him, that should tell you something.

Yeah they both aren't qualified for presidency. I didn't vote
Trump or Hillary. I lean slightly with Trump only because I think he
will keep us where we are. Our nation won't likely get any better, but
it likely won't worsen which is a good thing. Again it's a slight
leaning but it is what it is.

This is the quote I would use for it if Trump & Pence were to win (Which I very much hope they do) -
1 Corinthians 1:26-30
26 For consider your call, brethren; not many of you were wise
according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of
noble birth; 27 but God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the
wise, God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong, 28 God
chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not,
to bring to nothing things that are, 29 so that no human being might
boast in the presence of God. 30 He is the source of your life in Christ
Jesus, whom God made our wisdom, our righteousness and sanctification
and redemption;
I hope this has helped
God Bless You

Its possible he's similar to king david....
Pence was a good choice for vice president running mate. I hope he does pull off the win.

Either I'm ignorant of Google results on elections or it looks pretty
clear that Trump won, or there's a bunch of inner city districts that
are waiting till the last minute to show their results.
Pretty much every battleground state is showing Trump in the lead.

He already has, I can tell by the people who surround him and

justices he will appoint and their feelings toward Christ and His

Re: Your Hour-by-Hour Guide to Following Obsessively on Election Day
I knew from the start it would be a close race and that the pollsters
don't understand the people's thirst for change. It seems now that Trump
may win. But whoever wins, let's all hope and pray the new President is
an effective leader for our country and, together with Congress, the
Cabinet, and advisors, will get things done which benefit the American
people and the world with peace and prosperity.

Pence is a wonderful choice: really shows trump's ability to hire
the right people, which is what he touts anyway. He knows talents and
knows how to use the right people not political hacks.

PA is one to watch, but if I'm reading the NYT site correctly,
Philly and its suburbs have been counted, but not the traditionally
Republican strongholds in the state.

That's where I was born & raised and the results I see right now were looking pretty discouraging. We're not that blue.

several swing states still in the air. Very very close! A real nail

But one thing is for sure: if Trump wins, he won't be complaining

for certain, and that is, although she may be bitterly disappointed,
Hillary is far better off on a personal level (considering her health
issues) if she loses the election.

I agree about her health. Trump has worked very hard since the
Republican convention. His campaign finally pulled together. he worked
hard for the country and for the American people. He spoke to many
Americans-they liked his message. Trump just won Utah.
I wonder if we will get a winner announced tonight.

Yes, but too too close. Michigan, North Carolina, Wisconsin and
Nevada are still really close. But Pennsylvania, Minnesota and Iowa are
going blue almost definitely.

Well, the pundits are going to delay as long as possible. I'm staying up to watch the speeches, especially hillary's.

Well I think it has to do with the fact that better than the
alternative maybe, Trump is still quite liberal. Easier for some too
switch over that way.

Re: Your Hour-by-Hour Guide to Following Obsessively on Election Day
lol, I'm watching a link to live election coverage (Provided by a poster
earlier on this forum), you can tell they aren't being biased when they
are saying nonsense like "I think it's time to see that the majority of Americans are unable to accept a woman president" and "Trump is doing so well, because this is white supremacist last stand"
My goodness, with comments like that it's clear these people have no idea.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mkb3oFIFAXc
I really hope Trump & Pence wins, I wont get my hopes up though because I know it's not over until it's over.
God Bless

I just can't get over how stupid the main stream media is, they acted just as baffled with Brexit, same with our elections.
Brexit had nothing to do with the economy, which I guess is why they
were baffled, it had everything to do with the refugee crisis, and
anyone raising serious and legitimate concerns they dismiss as racist
and bigoted and whatever other name under the sun. Same thing is
happening here I believe.
It just goes to show the general public have not been fooled by all the
propaganda that has been leveled against them for some time now (Thank
goodness).
I hope this has helped
God Bless You

Re: Your Hour-by-Hour Guide to Following Obsessively on Election Day
A slim 0.4% lead for Mr. Trump in Michigan so far; but Detroit and its
suburbs need to be counted and they're heavily Democratic places.
Candidate Trump needs Michigan to win; not looking good.

White blue-collar workers were not paid enough attention to by the
Democrats. Suburban Republican women came home as well. And the
millennials who supported Sanders instead of Clinton may not have even
voted. Besides, Clinton's ethics have been more than suspect for quite a
long time. But most of all, the people are forever searching for a
candidate of change, removed from the establishment: in Jimmy Carter, in
Ronald Reagan, in Bill Clinton, in Barack Obama, and now in Donald
Trump. And that same public can be merciless if they don't get what was
promised to them during the campaign.

Pennsylvania has always been a lost cause for Republicans since
1968 when Nixon narrowly defeated Humphrey in this state. I thought
Trump was leading in Michigan.

Correct and NYT is projecting him to win (but it's not called for
him). For PA Philly and Suburbs came in early. It's now the Republican
stronghold counties being counted and this is going to tip it into the
Trump column.

That doesn't make very much sense. States with 1-3% margins aren't
lost causes. Philadelphia is performing at barely above 80% for
Democrats, which is actually not so great for Philadelphia.
I don't think PA will go Republican this year but it's still going to be
highly contentious 4 years from now, especially with those urban areas
having limited population growth.

I think the polls can be explained away by my favorite bumper sticker of 2016:
VOTE FOR TRUMP (No one needs to know)
Many people were fed up with the system but not willing to tell a
pollster how far they would go to protest the situation. Maybe some
people voted in protest thinking it would not matter because of the
polls. Political scientists will be publishing on this election for a
long time.

What's taking so long. The west coast is tallied, Pennsylvania, Maine,
New Hampshire, Wisconsin,Minnesota and Michigan should have been earlier
than west coast.

Re: Your Hour-by-Hour Guide to Following Obsessively on Election Day
I've been gone for quite awhile but watching the returns I had to come
post. As much as I'm not a Trump fan, I did end up voting for him
because I didn't want Clinton to win. If he does win ( and it looks like
he has a good chance) I hope he does a good job. It's going to get
interesting if the Republicans also control the house and senate as is
predicted at this point.

When I was in high school, 2001-2004, I heard a lot about the
pending inevitability of a Democrat America in the not-distant future
because of changing demographics. It's 2016 and we're about to have a
Republican president, Congress, Senate, and I believe a majority of
Republican governors.
My intuition is telling me that polls are inaccurate because of the
shame/guilt factor. Conservatives are more bashful about their ideology
on average than liberals and are more fearful to speak up. So, when it
turns into the anonymity of the vote, there's going to be a little
higher margins across the board for the conservative candidate.

Re: Your Hour-by-Hour Guide to Following Obsessively on Election Day
In Indiana race for US Senate Democrat Evan Bayh, once thought to be a
heavy favorite, loses big. The ads were nasty and frequent for both
candidates, but for me, being the deciding vote on Obamacare destroyed
him. He made no defense at all for his position on that issue. Todd
Young was far better on the life issues, although Bayh was very much a
fiscal conservative for a Democrat.

I don't know. While I do know a few avid Trump supporters IRL, by far
the vast majority of the Republicans I know and talked to IRL only voted
for him because they didn't want Clinton to win. I was one person that
was polled repeatedly that stated in the polls that I wouldn't vote for
either of them. It wasn't about being private, it was just that I really
didn't think I could bring myself to vote for him. My husband said he
heard the same thing from friends and coworkers. They said they didn't
for Trump, they voted against Clinton.

So is Hillary. I will end up liking Trump if he wins as much as you will like Hillary if she wins.
However I did put Democrats down when they said Bush wasn't their president. Did you do the same with Republicans about Obama?
I am an American, no matter who our President is. I hope you, as an American, feel the same.

You will grow to like Trump because he'll serve the office with
dignity and success, not because he's won enough votes. Hillary is too
corrupt to govern well.

In all of Clinton's years in politics I've never seen her behave in a
unifying manner. Ever. She puts down people who disagree with her and
looks down on them. She thinks she knows better than they do.

BBC is not calling as many states as US networks are and their map is better -- shows electoral votes rather than just red/blue.
Btw, NYT has Trump 95% likely to win.

This was the beginning of when I felt that Trump did not understand
Christians, especially Catholics. While I realize that Protestants don't
see Communion the same way Catholics do, they treat it with more
respect than Trump does.
|
Many people are rather ill equipped, ill prepared to speak of
their faith ... many men particularly ... and as a non Catholic -
Communion is a symbolic action .... and speaking about faith is a very
personal thing .. fraught with risk . especially with new Christians and
in front of a Camera - for the World and before a press that is less
than friendly
So I did not fault his response the same way .. clumsy yes ... would I have responded the same way .. no
True story -
I had a daily Mass goer very devote Catholic lady [12 years of Catholic
School too] fully initiated and intelligent about the faith ... ask me
why we don't hear the bible at Mass like our Protestant brethren do [she
also attends events, services and bible studies at both Catholic
parishes and non Catholic Churches] ...
My response was what ..
we hear multiple passages read from the Scriptures at every Mass and
the prayers of the Mass are scriptural - from beginning to end the Mass
is steeped in Scriptures .I asked what do you think the !st Reading, the
Psalm, the 2nd Reading and the Gospel are if not the Bible?
She said - that is not the Bible - that is the Missal ...
This person really knew the Missal was the Scripture readings used at
Mass ... her frustrations was that so many Catholics dont share their
faith nor do they engage in religious education and scripture study with
the same zeal as some Protestants .. and borrowed some of their
language in her 'complaints'
If an educated Catholic can be that clumsy ... so can Trump

If Hillary wins, I hope and pray that you will believe in the
people of the United States who elected her and God who allowed it to
happen. Just as I will if Trump wins.
I am serious. I trust that God will prevail. While I admit I don't
always get why He allows certain things to happen (which I in my great
wisdom would never allow) I know I have to trust Him.
