Mine, too. Now that Clinton has not conceded, where are those
people who thought Trump should quit the race because he said he might
not concede? Hmm....

Republicans have clinched the Senate.
Republicans will control both houses of Congress.

Maybe it's just me, but I thought it was weird that Podesta sent H's supporters home rather than H herself.
I'm worried we're going to have another repeat of the Bush v Gore election, and a week of counting and recounting ballots.

Looks like Trump has arrived to his campaign headquarters and is awaiting being awarded Wisconsin.

Wisconsin --and so the Presidency-- has been called for Trump by the Associated Press.

Re: Your Hour-by-Hour Guide to Following Obsessively on Election Day
Trump has been awarded Wisconsin. He is our next president.
You just seen the establishment defeated folks. Someone saying the
things you'd expect to hear someone say in a redneck bar room somewhere
has won the presidency of the United States.
He's not much of a Statesman but maybe a Nationalist will be just what the doctor ordered for this country.
Republican Congress - Republican President.

I loved that his speech was about others and not himself. Unexpected, humble, and not egotistical.

I may not have been a Trump supporter (quite anti-Trump actually) but it
is what it is. We know the Lord works in mysterious ways so I can only
hope for good to come and for God to guide his steps in the Oval Office.
Hopefully his parents and brother are in Heaven and will intercede on
his behalf.
I'm still in shock.

Re: Your Hour-by-Hour Guide to Following Obsessively on Election Day
I suppose I may as well put in my 2 bob's worth as an Australian citizen, with no influence in US circies whatsoever.
I wasn't impressed with either candidate, but I had what might be called
concerns about Clinton. Way back when her husband was President, my old
pastor said to me once that he thought Bill Clinton might be the
anti-Christ. He commented "something seems to come through his voice at
times ..." He also said "He's rotten to the core", a quote which oddly
enough a well known female Australian journalist also put into one of
her articles.
Incidentally the old pastor didn't spend much time on eschatological
stuff. His opinion of most of the fundamentalist stuff that originated
in the US was that it was a "bit weird" and said "The Europeans don't
think that way, and they've had a much longer experience of
Christianity". But I found he was pretty accurate in most of what he
said and predicted.
Whatever .. but one thing Im absolutely sure of - if she'd gotten in,
she'd have pushed abortion on demand everywhere. I didn't and don't
trust her or her husband, and I couldn't help feeling she was a front
for him.
So I suppose I'd have to prefer Mr. Trump, as the lesser of two evils to put it in less flattering terms.
In Australia however, the sharemarket has lost 47 billion dollars with
Trump's election, but share markets are notoriously fickle, and it will
come back again.
As for our foreign policy, Australian governments are pretty pragmatic
across the board when it comes to foreign policy, and we shift our sails
to meet the wind. So we'll just work with whoever comes on board.
If Trump does withdraw US forces from the Asia Pacific, and expects
Japan and Korea to do more to pull their own weight, then we'll have to
consider what to do about that. I have a peculiar personal belief God
intends to hand Australia to the Japanese down the track, and I think we
could make it a lot easier for ourselves if we started working towards a
much stronger relation with the Japanese right now. But that's only my
peculiar opinion.
I once read a book called "The Third World War" by General Sir John
Hackett (I think) of World War II fame. It was just a novel, and the
scenario he proposed never happened. But he did have a sort of epilogue.
In the epilogue, he proposed that at some stage there might be a 3 way
partnership between China, Japan and Australia. saying "As it would be a
multi racial partnership, they'd get away with a lot".
Who knows. I do know that if the US starts disengaging from the Asia
Pacific, we'll be forced to consider other options. As I said we're
pragmatic. We're also not big enough to chuck our weight around.
Which means we have to play a bit of Realpolitik when it comes to foreign affairs.

Perhaps God's work is not so mysterious in this instance, especially when you look at the party platforms.

Re: Your Hour-by-Hour Guide to Following Obsessively on Election Day
I hope a young nominee is put forward for the Supreme Court. Someone
that could be on the Supreme Court for decades. Somebody with a track
record of ruling to uphold protecting life of the unborn and religious
liberty. Presumably all the people on the list that has been put forward
have such a record, but these issues are really important, and I think,
so is age of the nominee.

Thanks Meltzerboy! I have a cold and just returned from 5 days in Utah.
So I am trying to catch up on my sleep!
It was wonderful to wake up at 4:15 to read that Trump won.
I am so proud of the American people that got out there and voted! I haven't seen
the popular vote, but I read Hillary conceded.
I think a strong message has been sent - to Obama, to the media, to the progressives and to George Soros and the Clintons!
Now I pray Donald Trump can get to work and do what needs to be done for
America and her people. We have been abused and neglected the last 8
years. At least that is how I feel. There is hard work ahead!
May God bless America!

Re: Your Hour-by-Hour Guide to Following Obsessively on Election Day
Was getting to late for me. Went to bed. Just woke up to hear the news. Am very about Trump winning
As we all know this is history in the making.
On a interesting note he is going to have secret service for life. He of
course already has his own security. Wonder if his security forces will
continue to be hired/used as well as his airplane pilot. In other words they might now temporally be out of a job.
Now on to his administration. Will he make Dr. Ben Carson become surgeon general?
Am greatly wondering who he will pick for secretary of state as well of
course his supreme court pick being he said he would a pro life person.
Also do you think he will be a 1 term president? Thus of course paving the way for Mike Pence to run in 2020.

I know it was a very late night, but I thought it was odd that John
Podesta addressed HRC's supporters and not HRC herself. They put so much
into the campaign and were there to support her, and she doesn't even
make an appearance?

I didn't hear her concession speech. I am so happy Bill Clinton will not be first Dude!
I didn't see Podesta's address her supporters. I switched to CNN and PBS
a couple of times and her supporters were just standing there looking
shocked. This was when Trump was under 250.
