Genome of Ancient Egyptian mummy analyzed
Quote:
The team (of scientists) collected 151 heads of mummies from Abusir
el-Meleq, about 100 kilometres south of Cairo. Of those, they were able
to collect 90 samples of mitochondrial DNA, which can only carry a few
genes, and doesn't present a full picture. However, they did manage to
collect three samples of genomes, the total of an organism's DNA.
They published their findings in the journal Nature Communications,
noting that the samples taken showed that ancient Egyptians were more
closely related to populations from a geographic location historically
referred to as the Near East, or southwest Asia . . .
This, Krause said, illustrates that ancient Egyptians were more closely
related to Europeans than they are to modern-day Egyptians.

I think an older book I had said that the Ancient Egyptians originally came from Central Anatolia.
