MADISON, Wis. — Opponents of Republican Gov. Scott Walker, spurred by anger over his successful push to take away nearly all public worker collective bargaining rights, blanketed the state Tuesday to launch an unprecedented effort to gather 540,000 signatures and force a recall election.
The petition drive began in the early morning hours with rallies and pajama parties. More than 100 events were planned across Wisconsin as supporters tried to collect an average of 9,000 signatures a day to meet the target.
Lisa Tareski of Milwaukee, who voted for Walker, was one of eight people who won a contest sponsored by the Democratic Party to be the first to sign the petitions.

The major cooperation called the union is trying to control the government and the people are backing them up.  While others protest cooperation controlling our government.

Isn't it interesting that people on the doles don't like being controlled by those who pay them.

It's my way or the highway, and by the way pay for the highway as well.  Collective protectionism....the good, the bad , and the ugly all in one pot.

Since when have they ever used Collective Bargaining? They buy their contracts w/votes, not negotiate them, so they're not losing anything. Come the next election, they'll get themselves a Democrat for Governor voted in, as well as a Democratic Legislature, in return for their Collective Bargaining rights, and a nice new contract, at the taxpayers expense of course. Of course the state is still broke, so there won't be any money around to pay them, so they'll have to be laid off, and face unemployment, like those in the private sector, have to. :smileywink:

I agree, we cannot have government officials balancing a budget.  It makes all the others look bad.

It seems like a waste, in the recall of Senators they only got one  seat and he was a weak link. If you remember after all the noise from the unions and anti-Walker people, they re-elected a republican judge to the supreme court. So it would appear that unless a lot of people who voted for the judge dis-agree with their last vote the unions will spend a lot of money on a failed project.

I totally support the people in Wisconsin voting to get the leadership they want.  That being said, I also support the people of Wisconsin dealing with (themselves) the results of the leadership they get.

I agree, miagear, this is for the citizens of Wisconsin to decide and the union people from other states should butt out. .

Ghost-ship.......................

The PEOPLE do not want him out..............they voted him in to do just the job he's doing.   It's those on the taxpayers payroll that want him out.

He apparently is not the HAND that wants to feed them.

It might do the Republican Presidential candidates a favor.  Take the attention away from them.

Not ALL of the people want him to stay.  To infer that it is only people "wanting freebies" that want him gone is rather dishonest.

60% of the people in Wisconsin are on the taxpayers payroll?
Even those deputys of Walker who recieved a 30% payraise, who I doubt will vote to recall? So 60% are for recall, minus those who recieved raises. What do the rest do? :smileyindifferent: :smileywink:
