While I agree... I also know that the public ultimately is responsible for employing these incompetent higher-ups. Sue them and win doesn't put her job back. If anything, a loss in court for them paves the way for them to be declared potential liabilities for future incidences. The district would look for an excuse to cut them lose leaving her to deal with the age old problem of getting blood out of a turnip. Once again, we're left dealing with the reality that this isn't a fair world.

Regardless... She should be given her job back along with some compensation for what this has cost her.

This is why we have whistleblower laws in Michigan.  Unfortunately, the DPS is under receivership and broke.  Otherwise Bev would stand to make millions from this stupidity.

Shouldn't those boys be spending years, if not the rest of their lives in prison? Good grief, they took advantage of this poor little girl, and she will undoubtedly be scarred for life. She was crying! Most certainly, her life has been ruined forever.
.
At the very least, they should be forced to register for life as sexual deviants (they can't be cured, as we all know) and always be kept apart from other children.
.
Not only that, but they should be prevented from ever having children of their own, since they are obviously turned on by little girls.

And folks wonder WHY teachers need a Union contract?? The district in which she worked has no more contract--once the EM was appointed, all Union protection went out the window. Think ANY other teacher will "stick out their neck" - even to protect a child? Probably not. You all yelled about teacher/public Unions. Got what you wanted?

Huh.  A thread about a nine year old being forced to have sex and it took you three whole pages to show up?  You're slipping.

I would like to think losing a job wouldn't be enough to stop a teacher from turning a blind eye. I'm a community member familiar with school board members and being the COMMUNITY and NOT the administration runs the district schools, I plan on asking that this person be placed on a list of prospects when the next position opens.
The community MUST remain in charge of their schools.

I would like to think that also. However, I'd "think twice" before taking action, since we are a one income household. NOT a good situation, for either the children OR the teachers. Thanx for taking some local action. Unfortunately the community in Detroit didn't rally 'roun

I just cannot believe that people blame the schools, when it's the members of the community who dictate how their schools are run. The schools reflect the make-up the the school district and it's sad to say, that pretty much sums up this particular problem. Private schools are great because they can boot the losers into Public Schools.
As far as me taking local action, we're talking about a few phone calls and an hour tops, that's hardly a huge sacrifice on my part.

No dougpug, I'm not kidding.  I believe in the case where Sandusky was actually witnessed doing this, he was stopped.  And, put yourself in their shoes.  As I said, if the verdict should happen to be not guilty, they would have put themselves in a position to be sued and in this sue happy society, that most suredly would have happened.  Its great to express outrage on a forum such as this, but when you get involved in something like this you definitely are putting yourself out there.  Its kind of similar to the guy who turns a corner, see's someone being held at gunpoint and trying to interfere.  He definitely puts himself in the position to get shot.  What would you do?

Please look at my siggy. I've been nailed on the wall about it. But... ALL politics is local. Your local school bd. election is one of the MOST important in which to cast your vote.  It really takes very little effort, BUT it's an election where one has local control and "follow up"--school bd. mtgs. gr. Attend, you don't even have to say anything. Just BEING there puts them on notice that folks are watching. My local school taxes are $500 of my mtg. payment/month. I'm NOT complaining--just that's a BIG hunk and I should know where it's going.

Sorry. Been busy. Somehow, I doubt from the wording of the article she had actual intercourse. Sounds like it was probably oral. Was she really forced? Neither you or I know the answer to this. Will she go on to have a normal life? Don't see why not. Except that the aftermath was probably far more traumatizing than the actual sex. If the teacher had run into her a few hours later, after she had had a chance to calm down, we may never have heard about it.

well she was 9 so yeah she was probably a veteran of many sexual encounters .besides it was only oral right? well maybe you assume that's all it was ,you assume she wasn't forced .how can you justify your reactions ? 99 out of 100 people would say this is sick ,you say it's normal .how can you be so delusional to think your normal and everybody else is screwed up?  how could you possibly know this ? unless you have experienced it as a 9 year old girl ,or some other vway.
that's what pedophiles depend on isn't it? after the victims thinks about it all the guilt and shame and disgust kicks in ,that is why many don't tell unlike your way of believing the 9 year old not only liked it but initiated it .you know those 9 year olds ,hot to trot every one of them huh? in your  perfect world no child would have to decide to tell or not becuse raping a 9 year old would be not only normal but legal , good luck with that.

Insubordination???  Teachers are MANDATED BY LAW to report abuse.  The school administrations "rules" don't "over-rule' LAW!!!  Some of these school administrators seem to think they are the Lord/Lady of the manor and their rulings are absolute. They aren't.  So the teacher is put in the position of either breaking the law, which could put her behind bars and open her to civil liability, or breaking her principals sacred "rules" and edicts.  Oh yeah, tough choice there.  The school got off light, it should have had another zero behind it  $750K?  It should have been 7.5 million to send a message.  If the story was substantiated then the principle should be looked at by the police and prosecutors office for violations of state law.  The teacher should also get her job back, with back pay.  The principle said the accusations were baseless.  What did he(?) base that on?  An investigation?  Or a desire to keep the peace in their little kingdom?  A rape at a school would make a principal look really bad, so they probably wanted to protect their own reputation.  Oh, and the school should have to pay her attorney fees as well.
Insubordination vs. violating the law.  These are the people who are teaching our children, the kids who will be selecting your nursing home one day.  Sleep well.

#4) Teachers repeatedly ask for help w/"troubled students"--don't get any. Even when you have 10-20 pages of documentation.
