I have also heard some disturbing news from Isreal..The men that are doing these terrible things are not the secular Jews, they are the ultra conservative Hasidic Jews..I read a story a few months ago that said the Rabbis of this ultra conservative religion are breaking into divorced womens apartments and beating them up, I thought it was an islated incadent, but I now will get involed to try and do something for this women..BTW, we have a very good friend who is a Hasidic Jew, and he thinks these attacks are barbaric, he said he expected it from the men who are Islamic, but not Jewish men....A few bad apples don't mean everyone is like these animals

Virtually every day I see young girls (from 16 on up to 30 or so) come into my place of business with their designer jeans or skirts riding just above their shaved or waxed line. They have carefully arranged their tops to leave about an inch of flesh exposed between the tops and the bottoms, no matter how cold and miserable the weather is. Or they are wearing bottoms that are thin and absolutely skintight, leaving little if anything to the imagination.

Frequently parents come in with even very young girls dressed this way.

In the summer it gets much worse. Or better, depending on your point of view. Lol. Tiny shorts with skimpy skin tight tops and no bras, and as much cleavage as they can legally show. All the males, without exception will "cop a stare" regardless if the girl is (presumably) underage or not ... even the old married ones ... as long as they think nobody is watching.

so in japan, they have what is referred to as the "Absolute Territory" or Zettai Ryouki which is the gap between a girls stockings/socks and the hem of their skirt. 3cm on thigh-highs is considered an A-Grade. i wonder what the UOJ's would do if some girl with a legendary S-Grade AT walked by.

The ultra orthodox jews have been harrasing others for ages. I am glad it is finally coming to light. They harrass Arab jews and Christians and the Muslims, They harrass foriegners especially if they are found out to be Christian. They harrass the Messianic Jews. And this is the first time I have ever seen it mentioned in these posts that I can remember.
Make the world a better place....share more than just your opinion.

The Hasidic Jews I've met (and lived in the same neighborhood as many years ago) for the most part are very quiet. They stay to themselves as much as possible.

But that is here in the U.S., or at least in the city I live in.
Now let's get to the meat of the matter on this "Protest".
The ultra-conservatives want that school. They have a very high birth rate and they want more space.
Also it would be remiss to not note this from the first linked article:
"And that matters because the community has come to be seen by many other Israelis as something of a burden on their economy - many ultra-orthodox men live on welfare, preferring to spend their time in prayerful contemplation of scripture rather than more conventional forms of employment." (emphasis added)
This obviously should concern all of Israel and it probably should concern us here in the U.S. How much money do we send to Israel every year? And how much of that money is going to end up paying for welfare in another country when we have an abundance of hungry, homeless people here and the general "outrage" at people on welfare here.
So this isn't "just" about a level of orthodoxy imho, this is about bully tactics to try to take over something one group has that another group, ironically the same religion - just "more" religious - wants. The I, Me, Mine, I want, I need, I gotta have and I don't care who gets hurt or who doesn't get what they need/want mentality is not something only occurring here.
The Left/Right myth is a game of smoke and mirrors designed to keep us distracted and confused. There is only Corporatism in America, the illusion of Democracy.

The original poster Gutzky seems to me to have a Jewish/Israel problem, and I wonder how someone like him has such a need to focus on this issue when there should be so much more that would affect the world. Is this the typical illogical and irrational anti semitic illness?
Reading this does not surprise me as I find any Orthodox religion troubling, and as a non formal religious Jew I think these men are basically sick as their actions show. I can say this as a Jew, but could a member of the Islamic faith be so critical of their Orthodoxy? I have never seen this! Also, I believe I saw where Gutzky is a Catholic Utopian. What does that mean?
I only question my intelligence when I respond to these loony type threads. With the OWS people and the Gutskys I ask, is the world on the level?
If it were not for Hitler and the ovens I saw Jews cooked in, in the concentration camps in Germany I would spend my time more productively.
Reading this does not surprise me as I find any Orthodox religion troubling, and as a non formal religious Jew I think these men are basically sick as their actions show.
