Question: Do the other cable companies have a community board? Just wondering. And as far as charges, all have teaser packages and once they run out you will be paying the same thing as Comcast for the same. But hey no one is saying you have to have Comcast or for that matter any other cable service either. It is your free choice. So if you aren't happy change. I have heard nothing but complaints regarding AT&T's cable program and their charges are high after your initial package. What about Charter but they are the same.
You can always go back to the outside antenna for your TV reception or use rabbit ears as they were called at one time. We just go our increases for 2012 and will have to think about some changes, but I do agree with someone who talked about paying for Latino channels and sports channels that aren't even watched.

We're teetering on the brink of widespread corporate blowback and this is just one area where Comcast can demonstrate whether they are on the side of their customers or just marking time as one of the insensitive good-ol-boy corporations in the "Better than thou art" club. History will show that this is a critical time for them... And for other companies. Those who fail to bend with the wind are quite liable to be broken.

Just a " heads up," got my Comcast bill for this month, with a notification, of significant increases, starting Jan. Was nice of them to give 30 days, for you to change your programming, at no charge. I recieved a flyer, from Century Link, ( formerly Qwest,) high speed internet + unlimited calling, for $64.95 a month locked in for 5 years, and no contracts. Any-one out there, with any info regarding this, I would welcome a reply ?

While it sounds really good... Qwest is still in serious recovery mode following the gross mismanagement by now convicted CEO Joseph Nacchio. During his tenure, they hiked up the hype, refused to invest in new technologies, and reorganized everyone they could out the door. The most significant investments they made were in idle advertising blather. They held meetings encouraging their employees to buy, buy, buy as much of their stock as they could--artificially maintaining the value of the stock. It artificially made the company look far better than it was. Then Nacchio Joe dumped his stock and cleaned up... Right before he knew that everyone owning their stock was going to get trashed. In his wake were people who'd bought stock for $50 and $60 per share that plummeted to less than $5. So much for retirements. When the bank came in to run the company, they found old frayed copper wire and empty desks. Qwest has been working long and hard to make a viable comeback. Are they there yet? Most say "Nope." If you're willing to support a long shot, rising star, comeback kid... Knock yourself out. I have two family members who were once smitten and twice bitten by their shenanigans. I know several folks who paid premium prices for services that were sub-par. For private use... They're probably worth the risk. For business applications... Tread softly and keep your eye on their performance and reliability ratings.

Also, as Comcast will no longer invest in this services and as such their operating costs will be reduced, when will the millions of subscribers that will no longer have access to this service receive a rate adjustment (reduction) to offset the diminished services provided by Comcast?

Just read the change of service notice. Now normally? I just look at the bill, check the amount and we go from there. Cable's in the house but I'm the one who gets the "pleasure" of calling when something goes wrong.
Went and looked at the little "important news" flyer in this month's bill and called.
The changes supposedly are for people who only have 1 service. Like only TV or only internet.
Now I had called because our bill jumped over $30 in a month and of course we all freaked out. Had to downgrade some, not a big deal. They won't let you not have Latino, sports, mtv, that stuff because that would definitely lower the bill and no one here watches any of that.
Anyway, at the time we were able to get the bill temporarily lowered. It'll go up again in March so we have to call to try to get another "promotion", otherwise the bill will go up over $40 - for the same thing we have right now.
After reading the Philadephia magazine article and seeing that the CEO made over 32 MILLION in 2010 (who knows what it is now), that they spent BILLIONS for 51% of NBC, that the CEO has his nice big house in Philadephia and a place in NYC - the employees of Comcast aren't making all that much, the techs that come to the house are independent contractors (meaning they're responsible for taxes, health insurance, etc., not the company) and don't make that much.
Our cable regularly goes out at least once a month, and usually stays out overnight. Do we get paid back for that? I think once or twice we got likte a $10 credit. We're paying way too much for not great service because cable-wise Comcast has a monopoly, it's them or verizon dsl/dish and we can't have a dish, were told it won't work where it would have to be placed. And that service isn't all that great. The dsl is horrid, slower than dial-up (and we're like 6 blocks from a substation).
Comcast from what I read has lost over 400,000 cable tv customers. We're in hard times economically, they keep raising the bill every few months out of nowhere so those 2 things together mean yeah, people are going to cancel cable.

HD is, and i am sure the new 3D, will be more expensive. Unlike most products, as sales go up, costs to consumers to not go down.
It is envolved in a number of offshoots and seems to have a liberal agenda.
It won't be long before the economy will eliminate it's services from the general public. Maybe they will sevived selling the basic package, butI I doubt it.
But whati is more interesting is that other providers offer the teaser rate as well, then their rates pretty much equate to Comcast's as well. Just like phone servers, they seemed hooked togetther.
I look for our socialistic government to take over the air waves and total choice will be .................ONE.

I don't know what magical town you live in where you have competition with cable tv providers but for me, and from what I hear from others, it's comcast or satellite. (satellite for internet BLOWS btw ? ? ? )
When I signed up for my Comcast services (phone, cable and internet, etc), the community/discussion groups were part of the services they were selling and I was paying for. They are taking away part of the services I signed up for when I went with Comcast. As they are taking away that services I would expect to be compensated.
I don't see it any different than if I were to lease a car with a radio in January that it would be ok if the manufacture came by in July and removed it.

Would anyone be willing to pay an extra five dollars a month to keep the comcast forums open?
Taking money from people who earn it and giving money to people who haven't earned it motivates absolutely no one.

Well, you could go to FIOS from Verizon. I hear they are very comparable service wise. I have heard complaints about billing problems though, but people did tell me they were resolved . . . eventually. I think I will probably stick with Comcast for the time being, but they better watch out! It's only a matter of time before someone comes out with something better and comparable price wise. I have the bundle right now and wonder how much I'm getting ripped by Comcast since they make the bills nearly impossible to make any sense of. Thinking of cancelling my bundle and paying for services individually to see how that compares.
What I hate most about cable TV though is that they show the SAME programs on the same channels all night long, such as Pawn Shop Stars (or whatever the name of it is), all of those repo shows, all of those other reality shows. They have virtually destroyed the History Channel and the Discovery Channel. It sickens me because those were a couple of my favs, and now they are infested with reality TV. YUCK!!!

Considering the millions of customers Comcast has, and the handful of mods it takes to run this thing, I can't imagine it would take more than a quarter per customers per month to cover the cost of this many times over.
What I'm saying is, I'm not 100% convinced that Comcast's decision to drop this has very much (if anything) to do with the cost of operation. I'm leaning more towards the fact the Comcast/NBC/GE/the left side of the political spectrum, are all very tightly connected and we have an election in less than a year.

I agree, by closing this medium down and lame stream medias effete practice of reporting any real news about politicians on the left they will do anything to get their person/people elected and reelected. It might be time to drop comcast like a bad habit and go with another provider. That is one great thing about America, competition. Let your dollar vote.
