**IMPORTANT UPDATE BUMP**

  • Bumping: Bumping refers to making a post for the sole purpose of bringing a thread to the top of the list. This may also involve bumping an older thread that is no longer relevant. Bumping old threads is typically frowned upon and should be avoided.

I've been copying my old posts before they get deleted when the forum's closed.

Just thought people would like to know seven-term incumbent North Carolina Democratic Congressman Bob Ethelridge, the politician in the video, lost to Republican Renee Ellmers in the 2010 Mid-Term Election by 1,489 votes in case they haven't been paying attention, like me.

Interesting facts about Bob Ethelridge:

Etheridge and his wife Faye have three children and seven grandchildren. They are active in their church and both teach Sunday School. For his decades-long work for the Boy Scouts of America, Etheridge was awarded the Silver Beaver Award; the highest award a Scout leader can receive.[2] He is a Freemason and has served as Grand Orator.

Interesting facts about Renee Ellmers:

Ellmers was born in Ironwood, Michigan, but moved to Madison Heights as a child, when her father got a job in the automobile industry. She graduated from Madison High School.[4] Ellmers paid her way through Oakland University by working various jobs, training as a medical assistant. In 1990, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.[1][5] Ellmers worked as a nurse in Beaumont Hospital's surgical intensive care unit. In North Carolina, she was clinical director of the Trinity Wound Care Center in Dunn.[4]

Re: Congressman Clashes with College Student

[ Edited ]
Seeing as what happened to the congress-woman in Arizona I am surprised that a member of congress would walk the streets anywhere alone. Congress has an abyssmal popularity rating.

Knowing the truth of the matter probably lies somewhere in between the stories I feel the congressman should have heard them say student, realize that he was in a no-win situation after thinking about what is going-on around the nation, and told them to send him a letter or call his office.

Anyone who does not live in Washington, or close by, really isnt aware of the dangerous nature of the Capital City.  I live in Maryland, used to frequent DC restaurants and clubs but I wont venture there anymoe - too dangerous.  So, dont be too ready to be critical of the Congressman.  In his place, I would probably have looked for anything I could find to brain someone.

to anyone who is ready to get out the rope to lynch the Congressman, I challenge you to walk down any street in DC after 10pm at nite and tell me there is no danger.

What this two-bit congressman and the rest of there ilk  happening is that finally people are waking up to how these "servents" of the people are really out for themselves, plain and simple. He does not like it because he might have to work for a living if he can find a job and he's worried,GOOOOD! He needs to look in a mirror one day,no everyday, and see what he has turned into,we know but does he? A servent of special intrests, the rich and anyone else he is willing to sell himself to and can afford his price. Your scared of the change that will cost you your plush and fancy life-style and that's coming and thier is nothing you can do about it.ENJOY WORKING FOR A LIVING IF THERE IS A JOB OUT THERE FOR YOU.

They think they are above the law, throw them all out and start over, occupy Washington DC.

These incidents seem to occur more and more; an increasing number of people are becoming more and more frustrated by Congress' INACTION (and yet the people keep re-electing the useless suits!).  Some members of Congress, I believe, have sore ears from jamming their fingers into their ears to retain their obliviousness about what the public really clamors for.
.
Common sense wants to leap out and yell"THROW ALL THE BUMS OUT!" but the election process has become merely a popularity contest (whose face is on the most signs; who has the catchy phrase; who has the most money to blow on getting elected)

I'm one of those voters who tends to button his lip and shrug most of this stuff off. I recognize that all of us have an occasional off day so when I see something like this... I frown and walk away. I'm more interested in trends and patterns. When a politician establishes a pattern of "Holier than thou art" thinking combined with a succession of lies, citizen bashing, underhanded dealing, fraud, and/or unrepentant immoral or unethical activities... I form an opinion that follows them from one election to another. If a man or a woman has an extramarital affair... I think, "Unfortunate," and try to give them the benefit of the doubt. If they have an affair while their spouse is dying of a chronic illness... It raises the negative impact of their behavior. If they act like this with two wives in a row... I get creped out and know that I'm dealing with a snake. If they've had a succession of marriages, extramarital affairs, a career marred with professional ethics violations, and values that seem to be flapping in the economic winds... I rip the flesh off my face, gouge out my ears, and run howling to the nearest pub. Ethridge needs to review his tactics. I'm not happy with him yet I'm no where near the point of ripping the flesh from my face.

To each their own. Your call.
