The jerk is whipping a kid with a leather strap numerous times.
It is absolutely barbaric.
Each time he lashes it is an assault of some sort.
If he spanked her with his hand on her bottom several times, I would cut him some slack and would say it isn't abuse.
Also, all he had to do was take away his daughter's computer; no need for physical violence
Gee, I wonder how the Texas authorities are going to let the Judge off the hook on this one.
If anything, I bet they arrest the daughter for illegally downloading the computer files and for videotaping a Judge.
I bet we never hear about the story again.
I think they should have arrested and booked this guy already.

Hillary Adams said she set up the camera because she knew "something was about to happen." Toward the end of the video, her father shouts that he plans to beat the girl "into submission" and rants about having a computer in the house and the problems it causes.
Elected in 2001, Adams draws an annual salary of $138,055 as Aransas County's top judge. He dealt with at least 349 family law cases in the past year, nearly 50 of which involved state caseworkers seeking to determine whether parents were fit to raise their children.
OH YEAH, it's the computers fault. Can you even fathom that this judge is involved in determining whether or not parents are fit to raise their children. WOW !!!!

However, a criminal defense lawyer said it was not likely that Adams could be prosecuted.
In an offense involving injury to a child, Texas law defines a child as being 14 years or less, said Houston lawyer Chris Tritico. Hillary Adams was 16 in the video.
"This young lady sat on this videotape for six years," Tritico said. "That's where the problem is.
Adams was temporarily relieved of his duties for the next two weeks, and a visiting judge will take over his caseload.
Well at least that is a start, The next order of business is in 3 years when he is up for

I may find agreement with you about a "punishment" but there are differences as to what constitutes punishment and abuse..The wife subsequently left this man as well because of abuse...She also says it was a family secret...Seems this guy is more about abuse and control than teaching right from wrong..Also, not knowing what pirating site she was using, when Napster first came out everyone downloaded from that site, myself included and it wasn't until the artists started complaining about the revenue they were losing over it that it was changed to a pay site..So, when I was downloading I wasn't stealing music, I was enjoying the music provided..Again, not until it was challenged was it "illegal" to download from it..
