70th Anniversary of the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor
Washington, DC
Sunday, December 11, 2011
Sunday, December 11, 2011
Join American History TV for a special look at the December 7th, 1941 Japanese attack on American military forces at Pearl Harbor -- the day that President Franklin D. Roosevelt said would “live in infamy.” We’ll hear first-person accounts from servicemen and civilians, take a tour of the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, and see archival footage of the attack and its devastating aftermath.
We’ll bring you highlights throughout the day from a conference convened this week by the National Park Service at Pearl Harbor.
At 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., watch the 70th Anniversary Commemorative Ceremony overlooking the USS Arizona Memorial -- held at Pearl Harbor this December 7th.
And we’ll take your calls . . .
• At 12 p.m., Daniel Martinez – chief historian at the World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument, which includes the USS Arizona – will join us LIVE from Hawaii.
• At 2 p.m., U.S. Naval Academy history professor Craig Symonds will be LIVE in our studio to talk about the military story leading up to and including the December 7th attack.
• At 4 p.m., Craig Shirley – author of December 1941 – will be LIVE in our studio to discuss ``31 Days That Changed America and Saved the World.’’
