Whipping TX Judge Won't Be Charged For Child Abuse

A Texas judge whose daughter secretly recorded him violently whipping her seven years ago, when she was 16 years old, will not be charged because it happened too long ago.

Police said they likely would have charged Arkansas County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams with causing injury to a child, or a similar offence, but the five-year statutes of limitations expired.

"We believe that there was a criminal offence involved and that there was substantial evidence to indicate that and under normal circumstances ... a charge could have been made," Rockport Police Chief Tim Jayroe told The Associated Press.

I sort of wondered what happened to this case.

So I googled it and found the result.

No charges will be pressed for the man who whipped his daughter about 20 times.

Not a peep more about it from our Media even though the decision not to charge was made several weeks ago ; the story dropped off the national radar pretty quickly.

No surprise, there. They would have found one or excuse or the other, much like police men who abuse wives, or corrupt politicians. It's all about having the right friends in the right places.

It's not really an 'excuse' if it's the law. Statute of limitations applies to everybody.

Not even a word about "Anger Management" classes. IF he was a non-law enforcement person he'd be in rehab, wearing shame bracelets, doing 1,000 hours of Community Service and be charged a monstrous fine.

What I Find Disturbing:

  • If a child gets abused, age 7,  the current 5 year Statue of Limitation expires when they turn 12.

  •  As Arkansas County's top judge, he has dealt with at least 349 family law cases in the past year alone, nearly 50 of which involved state caseworkers seeking determine whether parents were fit to raise their children.

  • If the judicial commission investigation doesn't lead to punishment, Adams would be safe on the bench until he's up for re-election in three years.
